David Melgoza

TheBoxingBar.com : You got another date in the ring coming up this Friday night. How ready are you for this fight?
David Melgoza : I am ready to go. All of the hard work is done and now it's time to put everything in motion and put on a good show for everyone.

TBB : This will be your fourth professional bout. Someone who might not know too much about boxing might think that these early fights in someone's career aren't important, which of course is totally wrong. Why is a fight like this important to you being a young fighter?
DM : Every fight is crucial, especially the early bouts. Right now, it's all about taking what we are working on during camp and utilizing it during our competitions. It's all about myself and my head trainer Jose Morales growing together, and working as a team.

TBB : Sacramento has historically had so many great fighters like Tony "The Tiger" Lopez, Diego Corrales, Pete Ranzany, Willie Jorrin, Richard Savala, and so on. Is that on the list of your goals to be up there with those names?
DM : Absolutely! Sacramento means everything to me. I think every young fighter growing up from Sac, grew up looking up to those fellas and what they accomplished. So to be mentioned on a list among those men would be a huge goal for me.

TBB : Friday you will be fighting there in Sacramento. What is that like for you fighting in front of your local people?
DM : The feeling is incredible. We always sell out, so the atmosphere is amazing. There really is no better feeling than fighting in front of a packed house full of your hometown fans.

TBB : We're literally hours away from you making your ring entrance. How prepared are you for this fight against someone like Osvaldo Sabaria?
DM : Weigh-ins went great and we both made weight. I am ready to go to work. We did all the hard work during camp. Now its time to seek the reward tomorrow night.

TBB : What will the fight fans see tomorrow of your performance?
DM : They are gonna see an exciting show tomorrow night. This sport is built on guts and glory. I plan on leaving everything in the ring tomorrow.
