Marquez was a 1992 Olympian in Barcelona, Spain alongside classmates Oscar de La Hoya, Montell Griffin, Chris Byrd, Pepe Rilley, Sergio Reyes, ect.. He turned pro that same year, and won the vacant IBF World super welterweight title defeating Anthony Stephens in 1997. He would go on and fight guys like “Yori Boy” Campas, Fernando Vargas, Shane Mosley, Jermain Taylor, and Arthur Abraham in his career. Marquez is now a ring commentator on the Showtime network.
